Tohaku was designed as an homage to "The Pine Trees Screen" drawn by Tohaku Hasegawa, one of the most famous painters in Japan.
The inspiration for the pine trees featured in Hawegawa's famous painting was from all the pine trees he grew up around in Nanao City. The flame is meant to be an extension of the pine trees and remind us of their rustic simplicity.
