A Rustic Scandinavian Style Home
Welcome to the home of The Lasers. Michael is a graphic designer and Courtney a hair stylist. Both are driven by creativity and inspired by the places they have been.
They hold the same philosophy about home and design that we do here at Girl & The Abode. That less is more, and to be authentic and true to your style and the culture of your home. Becuase everyone's home is unique and influenced by our experiences and values. They also find style inspiration from the same regions we do, so this makes working with these two such a joy! They feel it is important to buy from small batch artisans and companies with a good set of values, where quality matters and furniture, decor and lighting is made to last. We will include a list of resources to buy from at the end of this post.
They feel it is important to buy from small batch artisans and companies with a good set of values, where quality matters and furniture, decor and lighting is made to last. We have included a list of all the brands used in their home at the bottom of this article.
Here is their lovely home and a little insight into what makes their home authentic:
G & A. What cultures inspire you in your home?
C & M. We have a strong influence from Tulum, Japan & Scandinavia. The three cultures are very different but somehow tie together seamlessly. The minimalism from Japan & Scandinavia brings peace and calm to our house. While Tulum brings in a rustic factor that makes our house a home.

G & A. What area of your home do you love most?
C & M. The Kitchen. We spend the most time here cooking and having late night conversations. We have thoughtfully curated all our ceramic dishes over the years, each one of them brings us joy. Pouring my morning coffee in our handmade ceramic coffee mug is a favorite moment of the day.

G & A. What is your favorite piece of furniture?
C & M. Our dining table. Everyone gathers around this piece. It's almost the heart of our home. We love sitting on the sofa and gazing at it. It's modern, rustic and simple. We love it.
G & A. Do you have a memory attached to something special in your home?
C & M. The entire living and dining room floods our minds with memories. We have had so many dinner parties with family and friends, breakfast with our siblings, game nights with far too much wine, and quiet nights with each other. We've spent the most time designing our living space. It brings us both a sense of serenity.
